Men's Café Racer clothing and apparel is derived from one of Britain’s greatest subcultures 

Men's Café Racer clothing is defined by it’s simplistic nature, the styling being adapted from the big screen with Marlon Brando’s 1953 film, The Wild One, in combination with strong influences from Britain’s RAF Royal Air Force. Levi jeans, t-shirts, white scarfs, leather jackets and boots.

Café Racer Clothing was Simple in Style but Big on Attitude, and That Came From the Person Behind the Clothes

Café Racers of the late 50’s and more specifically the Ton-Up Boy’s, exemplified a counter-culture marked by fringe societal living and acceptance, or lack thereof, and a rebellious attitude where their norms crossed with those of the mainstream culture of the day.

Although the fashion of the day was simple and plain, there were two areas where Ton-Up Boys let their personalities shine, their Café Racer leather jackets, and their bikes! Leather jackets were the core staple of every Ton-Up Boy. They started off simple with each person adorning their jackets with pins, patches, studs (perhaps a little later with the rockers), and custom artwork that personified each and every Ton-Up Boy. In terms of their bikes, they were bought stock, then stripped down, and rebuilt to make the bike as fast and streamlined as possible so they could tackle the days racing. You could almost make the argument that their café racers were as much a part of their attire as their leather jackets and boots!

The Ton-Up Boys, who’s culture evolved from their predecessors the Teddy Boy’s, are often credited with taking a sport and turning it into a lifestyle. We embrace this lifestyle with each and every product we deliver.

When it comes to Men's Café Racer clothing, artisans and manufacturers take many different approaches to the products they design and produce. Some designers take a very traditional approach in terms of form, fit and function, plain shirts, simple button-down shirts, t-shirts and traditional café racer leather jackets. Others take the approach of designing clothing and accessories that speak to the attitude and sentiment of the day, shirts with classical sayings and graphical depictions such as “Do The Ton” or “100”, or alternatively images with skulls, bones, pistons and checkered flags. Some manufacturers adopt a hybrid model where they produce both. At Ton Up Clothing we champion the heart of every Ton-Up Boy and Café Racer. We like to design and produce clothing and accessories that people can wear and carry as a badge of honor that harkens back to the days of yesteryear where speed, thrills, and rock and roll ruled the day and got your blood pumping!
